  • Finca La HerraduraWe are a small, personal company wich was born from our passion for horses. Having lived all our lives here in San Pedro de Atacama the wish arose to show and share with you the marvelous surprises which one can find in this area - the colors during the diferent times of the day, the strange formations of sand, stone and salt, the hidden green valley with all their magic, and much more.

Our ranch "La Herradura" (the horseshoe) is situated to 1km outside of the village of San Pedro de Atacama in the "Ayllu" of Yaye. We are just there where the oasis finishes and the begins desert's, where there's a lot of things to discover. Our ranch is a paradise, with alot of space for our horses, quietness for everyone, to relax and the pure nature, just a side to enjoy and discover.

We have been working for many years with international companies for individual horseback traveling. We have more than 15 years experience in this kind of tourism and far more with horses. Breading them, training them as well as enjoying and discovering the desert on their backs. Our motivation is to give you experiences, in a very personal way, of a part of the driest desert in the world - to show our routes and what is in the Atacama Desert.

We invite you to know a part of this desert, accompanied by one of the noblest animals of our world.

Join us and enjoy “mirages which become reality”.

  • Our HorsesThe Horse Chilean's "Criollo" is a breed virtually unknown outside South America despite being the oldest registered native American breed, the oldest registered breed of Iberian origin, the oldest registered horse breed in South America and the oldest registered stock horse breed in the Western Hemisphere.
After hard work of many years, we obtain a breed horse, adapted to the harsh desert environment.
We mainly ride with Chilean saddles. They are comfortable and just what one needs for longer rides. However, there is the possibility of riding with English or western saddles.
